Level Requirements

Beginner/Stock
Overview:
A scenic and enjoyable ride perfect for newcomers to off-roading or stock 4×4 vehicles. This route winds through beautiful trails with an easy technical rating, culminating in a fun and slightly more challenging trail to a cave – time permitting.
Terrain May Include:
Light rocky sections, Shallow water crossings, Uneven or rutted dirt trails
Route TBD. Potential trails may include:
Cave Fork Rd, Buckner Hollow, Bald Fork Creek, Fixer, and Stump Cave
Recommended Vehicle Setup:
31” all-terrain or mud-terrain tires and Spare tire

Intermediate
Overview:
A step up in difficulty, ideal for drivers with some trail experience and lightly modified vehicles. These routes include a mix of Easy to Moderate technical ratings.
Terrain May Include:
Rutted dirt trails with loose rock, Erosion, Water crossings, Mud holes, Obstacles such a ledges and short steep climbs.
Route TBD: Potential Trails May Include:
Townsend Cave, First Frontier Appalachian Trail System, Spaas Creek, Longbranch Rd, Pumpkin Hollow, Raven Rock (lookout), Clifton Rd, Wayne Benson Rd, Walker Creek, Pistol/Ross Creek, Rader Ridge
Recommended Vehicle Setup:
Winch , 33” mud-terrain or all-terrain tires, Spare tire, and Suspension lift

Moderate
Overview:
A step up in difficulty from the intermediate ride, this is ideal for drivers with experience and modified vehicle. Trails feature Moderate to Difficult technical ratings and require high-clearance, modified vehicles.
Terrain May Include:
Rocky, off-camber, and heavily rutted trails, Steep ledges and deep erosion cuts, Sand, dry or wet washes, and deep water crossings, Technical obstacles requiring driver skill and teamwork.
Route TBD: Potential Trails May Include:
Mountain Springs, Mountain Springs Cemetery, Sinking Creek, Pistol/Ross Creek, Rader Ridge, Barns Buck, Whoopflarea, Old Fincastle, Walker Creek
*Required Vehicle Setup: Winch, 33” mud-terrain or all-terrain tires, Spare tire, and Suspension lift. Recommended: Rear Locker or LSD

Advanced
Overview:
Designed for experienced drivers and well-built rigs. Trails require high-clearance and modified vehicles. Trails feature Moderate to Difficult technical ratings and require high-clearance, modified vehicles.
Terrain May Include:
Rocky, off-camber, and heavily rutted trails, Steep ledges and deep erosion cuts, Sand, dry or wet washes, and deep water crossings, Technical obstacles requiring driver skill and teamwork.
Route TBD: Potential Trails May Include:
Mountain Springs, Holiday Hill, Hot Damn, Loop, Little Widow
*Required Vehicle Setup: Winch, 35”+ mud-terrain or all-terrain tires, 2.5”+ suspension lift, Spare tire, Skid plates and additional underbody protection.
Recommended: Rear Locker or LSD
